About me

I live in Overland Park and attend the Blue Valley West High School (in the Blue Valley district).

The Blue Valley school district is a highly recognized school district. It has a 97.4% graduation rate. It has received many recognitions. In particular, "All five Blue Valley high schools were named to the U.S. News & World Report's best high schools list and The Washington Post's most challenging high schools list."

Overland Park is one of the best cities in the US. In 2012, the Money Magazine rated Overland Park the 7th best city to live in the United States. Overland Park has also consistently ranked in the top 10 of CNN/Money and Money magazine's 100 Best Cities to Live in the US.

My Family

My father, Dr. Hossein Saiedian, is a professor at the University of Kansas. My mother, Dr. Zohreh Talebizadeh, is the director of Autism Research at the Children's Mercy Hospital, an Associate Professor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and a  Graduate Faculty at the University of Kansas.

I have a brother, Ideen, who currently works at Oracle in Santa Monica, CA. He completed his undergraduate degree in Business Administration at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2016. He was a leader in debate and forensics and has won a number of national and state-wide awards. He was the President of the USC debate club. He plans to attend graduate school in fall 2019 to earn his Ph.D.

Love to Learn

I'm deeply passionate about learning; no matter what the topic, I always enjoy expanding my knowledge base and gaining new perspectives. Because of this quest for self improvement, I look up to many successful people who share this mentality of hard work. I am in the debate program at my school, so I'm also very interested in American and global politics. Because of the importance of reasoning and research associated with debate, I've become more interested in educating myself about various issues so I can develop my own perspectives. My parents are originally from Iran and as a result, I am deeply invested in the struggle for human rights and democracy there.

Enjoy Travelling

I also love to travel. There are beatiful places all over the world and I hope to one day be able to visit many more countries, especially Iran, to experience their cultures. I'm also interested in photography and photo editing, so I always enjoy going to new places where I can take pictures. Some prominent places that I have already traveled to include the Bahamas, Canada (multiple times), France (multiple times), Germany, Italy (multiple times), Mexico (multiple times), Monaco, and many of the Caribbean islands.

I Love to Listen to and Play Music

I love music. Whenever I get the chance, I like to listen various types of music, whether that's classical music, 60s/70s rock, or modern music. Some of my favorite bands include the Beatles, Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. I believe that music has a very powerful ability to express oneself and I love trying to understand the deeper meanings behind songs. I played violin in the school orchestra from 4th-9th grade and I have now played piano for five years. I have competed in state competitions for piano and I was also chosen to play on stage at a convention in Washington, DC for Human Rights and Democracy in Iran. I hope to be able to continue my understanding of music theory and also learn new instruments like guitar.
