Advocacy Event

Washington, DC rally supporting uprisings in Iran

My parents immigrated to the United States from Iran. From an early age, I have been deeply involved with the movement for democratic change in Iran. I have had the honor of meeting with activists who have endured tremendous suffering at the hands of the Iranian regime, including the inspiring members of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Iran's largest democratic opposition movement. My upbringing and close interaction with the Iranian resistance has had a profound impact on my worldview — namely my appreciation for the rule of law and its role in protecting individual liberty.

I am an active volunteer with the Organization of Iranian-American Communities (OIAC), a non-profit organization that aims to shed light on human rights violations in Iran and raise bipartisan support for the Iranian people's right to chart a democratic future.

One such example is H.R. Res. 100 (118th Congress), which garnered support from a bipartisan majority of the House of Representatives "[e]xpressing support for the Iranian people’s desire for a democratic, secular, and nonnuclear Republic of Iran, and condemning violations of human rights and state-sponsored terrorism by the Iranian Government."

I have had the privilege to speak at national policy events that have been attended by thousands of community members and addressed by distinguished public figures such as Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

My advocacy is focused on raising support for the organized opposition to the current regime and urging a comprehensive U.S.-Iran policy that aligns American national security interests with the interests of the Iranian people.
